going to le mans next year do i need a flash gun or any other equitment never been to a night race befor

OK, I'll caveat this with 'This is not my area of expertise' but, as someone who occasionally has to perform high workload tasks at night, I would think it might be quite dangerous having very bright flash bulbs going off at inopportune moments. I appreciate Le Mans is different from my more hum-drum profession but I guess it could be dangerous?

Flash gun or not, you'll have a fantastic time - have you got room in your suitcase for a stow-away?

If you are taking pictures of all the partying that goes on around the campsites, yes it will be useful!

However, it isn't really that easy to shoot the cars at Le Mans, there are only a few places not behind a fence and there will be quite a few people all trying to shoot from there. If any of the cars have reflective stickers the flash will pick them up, but you will not be able to light a whole car from a hotshoe flash, my advice is to go and enjoy the raving and partying (and take good waterproofs).

I shot a night sprint meeting with flash including head on and front 3/4 stuff and asking the drivers after the first run if they were ok with it, most of them were concentrating so hard they didn't notice what I was doing.

I've not done Le Mans (one day) so can't comment but I have done Britcar and its a useful tool to have (along with lots of batteries)
