Right! Have myself a fuji S9600 and with bonfire night almost on top of us I really wanna try it out. Bought the camera mainly as I want to do al lot night time photos on varies subjects.
But I know nowt!:thinking:
Could anyone sudgest the best camera settings for night photo,s? Mainly landscapes and lunar stuff. Any ideas or sudgestions would be appreciated.

Oooh that's tomorrow night!

Generally for night shots you will need a tripod, even for fireworks and other brightish subjects a tripod will make the difference.

Since it's impossible to judge exactly when or where a firework will go off, a wide angle setting on your lens and an exposure of around 5 seconds (you'd need to experiment on the night) about f10 or smaller aperture with the camera on it's slowest iso setting.

Well I have a good tripod, remote shutter, and the hardware I need to get the photos right. Im just a little lost on the camera settings.:shrug:

Just to say thanks for all your advice and sudgestions, it really helped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Realy friendly and helpfull forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cheers::bang:

Sorry to hear that you didn't get any good photos, but Steep's answer was helpful and would have enabled you to get nice photos. There is also the search function and this time of year we have plenty of "What settings for fireworks" threads. The information is all there as we're a helpful bunch :)

I dont see anything that I would add to steeps post to describe the basics of firework photography. There is some more complex stuff such as various effects you can do but thats more something you try after you have got the basics that steep mentioned right.
