Hi everyone My name is Issy and I have just turned 18 years old I have loved photography for years and could always be seen with a camera ( esp the boots disposible ones!) I was diagnosed with Addisons Disease two years ago and still getting back on track with life. Those two years have made me decide that I want to do photography more than ever, and make a career out of it. After years of begging my dad came up trumps with a decent DSLR for my 18th birthday, a Canon EOS 550D with a standard and Telephoto lens, I love it and have been out constantly everyday taking many photos. I think I have read the manual over 100 times!

As I want to make a career out of it, how do I start off? I am doing a Art course at college this September and a 10 week Photography course. How did most of you begin and build up a career? I would love to know as this could really help me.

Hi and welcome, i'm new here as well I think the majority of people on here are amateurs like myself. Taking courses seems like a good way to start, a friend's daughter who is 20 and took photography at school and college set up a fb page purely for her photography and has since got together with another photographer and set up their own business which is doing well

There's a surprising number of pros who contribute here as well as some very learned amateurs........ plenty of help for all
