Hi All,

My name is Paul and im 22 from Lincolnshire. Have been using forums for many years but mainly on car based forums, actually help run a large community so can fully appreciate the time and effort needed to run a forum.

On to the photography part! Studied photography at school which is where i got my inital interest. This was however using 35mm SLR's and was all black and white. All pictures were also self developed and produced in the schools dark room.

Eventually bought my own dark room equipment but havent used it for many years and unfortuently lays dormant! Anyway i feel it is about time i got back into photography and move into the 21st century with a DLSR!!

Currently looking at a £300 budget. Either looking at a Sony A200, Olympus E410dz twin lens kit or the Nikon D60. Really dont know which one to go for at the moment, but am swaying towards the E410 due to live view and the extra lens. What are your opinions?

Type of photo's i would mainly take would be static cars at car shows, also did alot of water & night photography for my school projects so would love to do that again.

Still have my camera bag and tripod left over from my old camera, but would need memory cards etc so any recommendations would be appreciated.

Sorry for the long post :)

welcome

Hi Paul and welcome to TP - as you'll find out soon, it's a friendly place and everyone means well. Even Matt Sayle with his lame jokes. Can't advise on the cameras I'm afraid - I'm a Canon shooter. But have a look in the "Shopping, Suppliers and Bargains" forum. Every now and then someone links to particularly good value memory cards.

One thing I would add though, is get as good a body as you can afford, on the grounds that you'll probably add lenses at a later date and it's good to have a solid foundation. (If that makes sense?)

Have a look at this: http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=82464 it's probably partly much too basic for you, but has some useful stuff nonetheless.
