Completely new to photography! Just purchased a Canon 550d with 18-55mm lens. Getting to grips with it slowly and taking my time to read as much info and tips as I can. Lots of confusion I must say but I sold my beloved keyboard of 4 years to get the camera and although I will miss playing music I'm sure I will love taking pictures. Just thought I would join the forum and post here to introduce myself. My name is Richard and I'm 33. Wife is expecting first baby early sept so hopefully will be taking lots of baby snaps with colourful toys etc and wonderful expressions! Can't wait to gain the knowledge and hope I'm in the right place to get it.

Make sure you have a good look in the people and portrait forum before the little one arrives. There have been some lovely newborn photos posted lately. Lots of inspiration for you.
 
Thanks I will take a look. I have a class 10 16gb mem card and erased some pics yesterday, leaving the rest I liked. I have just flicked through the pics on the camera and all of the erased pics are back on there? Am I missing something here?

I'm using TP on iphone4 as an app and can't find people and portrait forum? Is it on here or the main website? Thanks for your advice. Still no little one yet....
 
Hi Richard,

welcome to TP and hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Ask plenty of questions and read all the books you can. Also lots of videos on various subjects of photography, just google for them.
