Hello everyone.

By way of introduction, I got bitten by the photography bug when someone a couple of years ago gave us a calendar for Christmas with a challenge to go and photograph all the places featured (Leeds Castle, Eilean Donan Castle, Westbury White Horse, etc). At the time I was using a 35mm Dynax 5 camera, but have recently (last year) decided to go digital and bought a Sony a700. My most recent acquisition is a sigma 50-500 lens for wildlife pics and I am looking for a suitable macro lens for close-up work.

Really very much a beginner - often use the camera's 'point and shoot' settings. Need to find out how to use the camera to its best advantage - eg how to know what aperture and shutter speed settings are right for which conditions.

I enjoy all aspects of outdoor photography (though I was asked to take pics of a freind's wedding last year), from landscapes/scenery to macro but need some tips on how to improve. Tried to find a class near me, but they seem to be rarer than chocolate reindeer poo, so looked on the net for some forums and found this one :)

Looking forward to 'meeting' you all.

Ruth
