Ladies and Gents,

I'm after a little assistance. I've got a Canon 400D and the stock 18 - 55mm lens. I recently bought a 70 - 300m TeleMacro Quanteray lens for Macro work and also for the likes of Race days and Airshows. Now, the help I need is in choosing a new lens for 'Everyday work'. I find myself constantly changing between the two some times.

The type of photography I do is either Landscapes (Urban and Countryside), Macro work and events (like Motorsport or Airshows). Now, for the latter I have my Quanteray, so I'm satisified that for the mean time, whilst i get to grips with the camera, this lens shall suffice, however; for when I'm walking around the street, I sometimes find the Canon stock lens rather limiting.

Could someone recommend a decent lens that will cover the gap i have between my 18-55mm lens, but also, possibly allow me to go as low as 18mm for my wideangle stuff?

As for Macro, would you guys recommend me getting some 'Macro Rings' (is this what there called? I can't remember) for the Quanteray rather than splashing out on another new macro lens. Once again, any recommendations greatfully recieved.

Many thanks

Greg

yes, thats VERY helpful. that sounds just like what I'm after.

Ok, to further this then, are there any decent online shops i can order such lens from? :)

The best is www.warehouseexpress.com. Superfast service, good customer service and competitve prices.

You can import from HK if you want to save a few £££s - try www.onestop-digital.com who have prices that include delivery and also they will refund any VAT/duty you may get charged.

Again, there is Kerso 0 do a search on here for him ;)

More details on any suppliers can be found in our dedicated supplier forum. :)

Another vote here for the 17-85 EF-S IS USM. The image stabilisation is a godsend in low light. It also has pretty good close up capability for stuff like butterflies etc. I had one and would have happily kept it were it not for swapping to a 1 Series body which of course it wont fit.

The macro 'rings' you refer to are extension tubes. :)

yes get yourself a set of macro extension tubes, they are not really that expensive and give great results.
