Newbie returning to SLR

Just like to say Hi to everyone.
After many years of using point and shoot cameras, I'm returning to SLR ( DSLR) cameras.

I've just got myself a Canon EOS 550D, with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
And EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6

I've forgotten so much over the years, but I will be reading up on the information on this forum and if I may, ask questions.

Welcome Fred You will learn a lot from this forum, as I'm sure camera's have changed in the years away

Hi Fred like you I have a Canon 550d and want to get away from using auto.

It is really hard not to use it but I know that some of my past pictures could have been really nice if I only took the time to learn.
