Just wanted to say a quick hello!!

I am a complete beginner really, I've always taken lots of photos and my main hobby is scrapbooking which is really hard to explain but in a nutshell is the artistic creation of photo albums using archival products. I work in 12"x12" format and use anything from 1-10 shots on each page along with other mediums such as paper, paint, metal embellishments. etc. You can find out more about scrapbooking at www.ukscrappers.co.uk if the fancy takes you!!

Obviously the photos are the focal part of my albums so it makes sense for me to develop my skills in that area.

We have just upgraded our camera from a basic point and shoot (Fuji 2800Z) to a more advanced Fuji S5500 and after only 24hrs I am amazed at the difference in the quality.

Reading the manual though was a scary affair and I hope to get past the "fear" :icon_eek: and learn how to get off "auto" and using the manual settings!! Seems impossible at the moment!!

I look forward to learning more and making new friends!!

Sarah ;)

Welcome Sarah...you'll get plenty of both of the above here.
I joined a month or so ago and I'm already taking better pics thanks to this forum.

Welcome aboard Sarah. :thumb:

That all sounds interesting. Get settled in and have a look round the place, there are lots of tutorials and tips to get you going at your own pace - it's not a horse race, make sure you enjoy it above all else. :)

Welcome Sarah, i try to just take good pictures, not got as far as what to do with them after ive taken them!

Hi and welcome

I'm sure you'll learn from the great and good on on this site, I know i have :)

Hello there and welcome!

I quite like the sound of this 'scrapping' malarkey and will check the webby when I get a spare 5.

Best thing you can do is take the camera off auto and start playing! The best thing about digital is the fact the results are instant and instantly editable in photochop or similar.

Fortune favours the bold you know, and you have nothing to lose but you dignity (the lord knows that's true for me!)

I have already sortof welcomed you to our home in your other thread but thought I better say Hi in here too :)

I hope you find the place friendly, helpful and above all fun.

Hello and welcome from a fellow newbie member :)

Welcome to the forums, I've just replied to your 'out of my depth?' thread, thinking I was replying to this :)

So I'll add another welcome here. :)

It doesnt matter what kit you have. Hell you don't even need a camera, just an interest in photography :)
