My name is David and I live in Essex.
My photography skills are that of a beginner when it comes to DSLR and what you can do with image manipulation.
I used to own a Petri GX-1 35mm many years ago and with a 135mm telephoto and a standard lens took many a pleasing picture on slide film - one of them won me a prize in my local camera club. It was picture of an Airbus A300 cockpit at night time. This however was back in the late 80's.
Since then I have had three P&S cameras - two Fuji and one Kodak BUT, whilst they took reasonable pictures to advertise goods on the evil bay, they are not good enough to take pictures of the quality and detail I want to achieve.
Over the last eight years or so, I have become an avid watch collector. I own about 60 pocket watches and something like 50 wrist watches. I don't have a photo/descriptive catalogue of these and for insurance purposes it is about time I did.
So I looked about the www and found a Nikon D70S with about 8800 activations and it came with two Sigma lenses - namely a Sigma 18-50mm F3.5-5.6 DC lens and a Sigma 55-200mm F4-5.6 DC lens,, 512mb CF card, one battery and a charger. Price was £150 - and having researched what the lenses go for - bought the kit. The camera arrived last Friday and it looks immaculate and appears to work well.
I have since bought two 4gb Sandisk Extreme ll CF cards, a new card reader, a mains operated supply. a tripod, spare battery, ring flash. light box and one of those Yongnuo 50mm 1.8's - yes i know some folks don't like them.
So needless to say I will now be experimenting in trying to get the best photos possible for my catalogue BUT - at a cheapish price!!!
