Hi TP ers!

Finally have my new wedding website up and running... well walking as it isn't where I want it to be yet.

I know we get a ton of requests to have a look and critique websites but I would really appreciate it if you would be as kind to click the link and tell me what you would like to see added... taken away... re-worded... tweaked... or just plain lie and tell me everything is gonna be alright!

I had planned to have this done before it went live but things didn't turn out that way unfortunately.

Anyways, the link ----> http://www.bkphotography.co.uk/

Cheers!
BK

Looks great, those huge (and good) images really blow you away! The only thing I always worry about with minimal text/flash sites is will you get found by search engines & clients using google?

Result! One of the reasons I had to update my website was the lack of SEO... it was a flash site. This new site has excellent SEO so what you just said sounds good to me! :)

Thanks for your input mate, appreciate it.

I wouldn't want to put a downer on things, but there isn't that much unique content per page text for the search engines to go off in this new site... but visually, definitely very wow :)

The content is there, you just can't see it on all the pages. We are using plug-ins where it tests for SEO capabilities and nearly every page has great Google friendly content.

It looks good and shows off your photos nicely, but what do you want from the website? It is hard to give feedback without knowing its intended purpose. Is it to generate business, or to show off your photos, to be a blog, etc. If it is your business site and I was a potential customer, I would want to know a lot more about the services you offer, types of print choices, price ranges, etc. Also I couldn't see a phone number to contact you.

At the bottom of the About BK page you have:

| Wedding Photographers Glasgow | Wedding Photography Glasgow | Wedding Photographers Scotland | Wedding Photography Scotland | Wedding Photographers Edinburgh | Wedding Photography Edinburgh | Wedding Photographers UK |

I assume they are supposed to be hyperlinks to other sites, but at them moment they do nothing.

Hope that feedback is of some use to you.

Andrew

Hi Andrew.

Yes, it is a business website and I agree it does need some more information on there. The site isn't complete but I felt the previous site was outdated on many levels that I had to get it replaced asap.

The bottom of the About BK page is for SEO purposes, not intended as hyper links. Good catch with the phone number.

Cheers!

Can I be honest. Keyword and footer stuffing like this isn't a new concept in SEO. I would genuinely be wary about relying on this as a long term strategy. Can I suggest you google Keywords in Footer for additional info.

Are you currently having problems?

Just tried to load and took up to a minute to finish, showing no images. Refresh is doing same - broadband ok.

Strange. It was having problems but it seems to be working here now and my friend just checked on his phone and it was working too.

From an SEO point of view it's a bit of a nightmare. The yoast plugin is providing the og links for facebook etc. but you have made an attempt at keyword stuffing and you have a lack of page text and header tags.

I would suggest doing some search for Googles document on SEO or looking into the basic SEO setup and requirements of a page.

The new site has me on page 3 for wedding photographers in Glasgow. I was no where to be seen just under a week ago with my old site. I think the seo is working not too bad. I am new to this and I want to learn more so thanks for the input :^)

also photo no12 not showing in the west brewery slide set just get a question mark.and in 2nd set edinburgh castle the first image is not showing question mark again and as i click each new set download to view images takes about 30 secs to complete hth mike images are great though
all photos do come in eventually but take an age as they are there now after i replied on here doh!

hi bk yeah i deleted my cache and restarted safari and took as long all over again ?

I'd review your site for speed, if your seo is getting you to where you are now the speed and time to first byte might really be holding you back. A quick review with the likes of gtmetrix or webpagetest and googles own insight will point you in the right direction for enhancements.

Just a thought, you could change the text to white so it doesn't show on the page to viewers but is still picked up by the SOE ;)
Please don't. Google recognise sit and will blacklist you in a shot.

Page 3 from nowhere is what I'd expect for a flash to Wordpress move. However, you really should be aiming at page 1 and you need some work to make that move.

Looks great though (except the logo, which is also next on my to do list).

Yeah, I think the white font was tongue in cheek mate. Page 1 is definitely my aim. No plans just now changing the logo at the moment. Thanks for chiming in!

I like the look of it and your photographs look really well.
My two penneth for what it's worth, when you click on the wedding link on the front page it expands behind the Facebook and social media links. I am using Chrome browser.
Secondly when you go to clients pages I would prefer to see a page within your site prior to going to photobox, with a note or disclaimer that you leaving your site to secure area otherwise you may lose people who have come to browse your trade information.

Thanks mate. This website building is new to me. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can iron out most of the problems such as load times and layout. Really appreciate hearing everyones opinion on the website.

At the risk of sounding like an old bloke; I appreciate it's vernacular, but I'm not your mate and I didn't 'chime in'. :) I'm trying to help and I responded to someone saying something stupid.

You may well have been able to tell the poster was joking, but I have no idea how you could, and it's bad advice that I've seen repeated enough times to know that some people genuinely think it'll work.

Take it easy Philly. I didn't mean to offend anybody... I have no idea how I could :) You did chime in and I know we can be mates! Anyway if you are an old bloke, you really should know better. All the best mate!

I'd say go for displaying the portfolio pics with a dark background - I've never been a fan of viewing "large" pics on a white background although for viewing thumbnails white is OK

The loading time for me was very quick, they only problem I am having is that I can't seem to click on the contact link. Im looking at it on a 13" screen and am wondering if that is why? and when i hover over weddings the rest of the content goes under the social icons

Thanks! Yeah, I brought the image size to a more manageable size and the site is loading a lot quicker because of it. Someone else had mentioned about the menu covering the social media buttons. Don't know how to fix it just now but I am going to look into it!
