I picked up a 70-200 f/2.8L IS today and a BG-E2n for my 40D.

The 70-200 is great, sharper than I expected, heavier too but I'll stock on the spinach

Much as I hate the fact that the grip is missing the AF-On button I figured the extra battery would be useful for long shoot when using the IS...

Only problem is the grip is erm a bit broken. When shooting with the vertical controls the image takes an age to appear on the LCD and the IS continues to run as well. I checked the grip on a 30D and saw the same behaviour with a different lens. It's not a problem I've heard of before - I suspect the * button the grip might be a bit iffy but it's going back tomorrow if I haven't completely lost the will to live. I'm shooting the kids at a pre-school for most of the day so my nerves might be a bit frazzled by the end of it all ;)

I found when shooting vertical with the 40D and grip with the 70-200IS that the grip was going to snap off, didn't like it at all - good job the bike sold and I bought the 1DMk3 :) Yup that is the solution ;) do it !

That's not an issue for me as I'm old school in holding a camera - all the weight goes onto the left hand - CT's got my back on this one ;)

I've had another play and it looks like the shutter button the grip is stuck on half press the whole time. Ah well, easy to get it replaced I guess.
