Yes
I very excitedly fitted my new Tokina SD 16-28 F2.8 FX Pro but have been disappointed to discover it seems really really soft.
I've tried MF and microadjustment but cannot get a clear image from it. I've double checked to ensure there are no lens protective films on the lens (!) but there aren't. I've used the same setup with another lens and have had satisfactory results.

Is there anything else worth trying before I return the lens? It is on a Canon 5DII.

That's making my eyes go funny!

I can't see one bit of the second image that's sharp! I've got a 20-35 tokina and at 2.8 it's the same! At f4 it's good

Reject it! It's first tokina I've owned! Never again

What filter system can you use?

These are renowned for decentering issues

I had a samyang 14mm with 165mm filters! Stupidly big

I just brought Tamron 15-30 from post office as it arrived yesterday, ws quick shipping after the seller in ebay sent it, took nearly 3-4 days to reach, couldn't be happier, but today i was fu.... busy and headache with many issues so i couldn't unwrap it and open it, i won't test it any sooner because i don't have the holder yet, i don't think the holder of my Samyang 14 or my Canon TS 17 can be compatible, i already have the filters [150mmx150mm, 150mmx170mm] so i may just handhold the filter for some longer exposure that aren't more than 4-6 seconds.

From where did you buy that test paper? i may try to test my Tamron lens, but i bought it because of many reviews talking about how sharp it is, even getting much closer or almost in same class of Canon 16-35 f4IS, even better in astrophotography, so i won't be sad or disappointed, those tests aren't for me, it is only to show others here and there about my copy, but i already bought and i am not planning to send it and ask for refund if it isn't sharp, i don't think soft copy is a reason for them to refund me.

I'd say that's certainly a good enough reason to send it back if it isn't sharp! Especially if it came from a business seller.

Then i must test it very soon so i can have time to return, i am busy these days and i am not sure how long i am allowed to return it if anything wrong.

Also, i don't know how to test sharpness, not just by shooting blocks and walls

Just an aside but I thought that bit of paper looks handy. I'll get one from that website shown at 'focustestchart. com' but it redirects to a spam site.

Where did you get yours from?
