Hi Guys,

I'm Arron, 23 years old from North Yorkshire and being into Photography properly for just over 6 months.

It all started when I attended various Car Shows (Fiesta in the Park, Ford Fair, Trax, East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Classic Cars) back in 2010 with a Fujifilm 2500HD Bridge.

In 2011 I decided as my hobby with Motor Vehicles increased I would invest in a Camera to also progress on so bought a Fujifilm S9600 Bridge that was more sized / spec'd towards a DSLR.

Christmas 2011 saw me upgrade to a Sony A100 DSLR which is still my current camera with various lenses. I'm into any type of photography and take my camera everywhere with me, I am a member on a Amateur Photography site but found the feedback was too critical going into in depth technicalities on why a subject should be the opposite side of the frame etc. so decided to try Talk Photography that was suggested to me.

Welcome to TP Arron. You will find a mixture here, but generally you get good constructive feedback.
Just don't ever say you gave a photo to your local paper without payment or that you are thinking of doing wedding photography... :lol:

There is a vast range of knowledge here and help is always at hand. One of the things about Digital photography is you can learn as much as you want, from simple point and shoot (compact) cameras right through to high end DSLR's.

The way I went about it was to get the cheapest compact to see what all the excitement was. I didn't want to splash loads of cash on something I didn't get interested in later on. However the bug bit hard and now have the Nikon D300 after upgrading a couple of times.

The thing that may not help is trying to master everything a camera can do at the outset, what with shutter speeds- ISO -aperture -depth of field etc etc. Bit like expecting to get into a car and being able to drive straight away.
Apart from the camera settings there is subject matter such as landscape- architecture-macro- modelling. In other words don't try and master everything at once, take it step by step, most tend to specialise in one subject with knowledge of others.

Remember everyone can and often does take a bad photo but you never see them obviously, and even the good ones are subject to editing to improve.

So don't hesitate to ask on a specific problem you will find all the help you will need
