Yes
OK, not a beginner but one has problems with memory, therefor I get a bit nervouse with new stuff. I have not updated any of my post processing soft ware or used it for a long while now, curently on 'Photoshop 8'. Equaly, I have not taken any serious pictures for this period, I'm very stale.

One has come from DSLR on to 4/3 for practical reasons, G1, loved it, G5 lost the desire, I should have kept the G1. Long break, sold most of the kit and now have a GX8, I'm happy enough to work my way throught the GX8 but I am at a lose to know where to go with prosessing, I dont even know if my computer will handle the GX8 technologies, a bit of a 'numpty' realy where computers are concerned, so I keep it very simple.

There is also the video side, interested in dipping the toe in but where to start?

I havent even taken the GX8 out of its box yet, waited to get all the bits together and a shed project finished.

So, here I stand GX8 in hand, set on auto for startes, take some pictures, will my PS8 work? Where best to look to upgrade if upgrade is required to acomodate 'video?' . . . remembering my watch word is 'simple'.

Be much apreciated if someone could point a nervous, returning dyslexic tog in the right direction. There you have it, dyslexia causes me memory and reading dificulties, plus as a senior citizen the brain aint that quick, I'm not stupid but do have to deal with dyslexic blocks. One aproaches a problem from another direction which often gives me a unique view of a problem:tumbleweed:

Thank you, CJS

Are you shooting in raw format or jpeg? If your shooting raw then photoshop wont support it, I'm pretty sure you'll need photoshop CC or later, if my memory is correct you need camera raw 9.1.1 (or lightroom 6) I think there is a DNG converter (free) but it's another step in the processing.
Heres a link for the dng converter, it'll convert your raw to dng format (a sort of adobe raw) which I think your version of photoshop will open (I've no way of checking here)

Hi Swanseamale47, thats a heads up, thankyou, whilst I get my self back into things with the camera I can shoot jpeg. However I realy need to get up to date . . . so whats the recomendations for a 'no hassle, simple program' that will cover my new technology requirements in pictures and video?

By the way I dont have iphone, ipad, or use aps, although I might invest in a new phone my nokia comes out of the ark.

Mmm. . . on my own then? I have gone for Adobe Elements 14 and Premere Elements 14. Keeping it simple and cost effective with an Amazon deal.

Adobe Lightroom would be my recommended starting point - for cataloguing and basic developing. You can download a free trial for evaluation.
