As part of the short evening photography course I am doing our tutor has pointed us in the direction of Lightroom 2 and from the demonstrations he has given us of it I was quite impressed so have bought it for me to use..

My post processing skills are pretty basic, I currently use a mixture of Picassa 3 and CS4 tending to use Picassa a bit more as I am pretty clueless about anything too skilled on CS4. I have to admit I have found CS4 slightly difficult to get to grips with and had intended on trying to learn a bit more on how to use it to it’s best but think I may have a go in Lightroom first.

So my question is if there any resources that users of Lightroom can recommend and point me in the direction of? I’ve just found the Learning Centre which I fully intend on sifting through over the next few days but was wondering if there were any other good places to look – either online or books I could read.

I notice you can also get templates which you can import into Lightroom – any good ones that are recommended by people who use it regularly?

Thanks in advance :)

I really rate the Martin Evening book, or just Google what you want to do in Lightroom.

Preset wise, I use Lightroom a lot and just make my own, rather than downloading other peoples, with the Develop module it is so easy to undo what you have just done, or make virtual copies to experiment with, the best way is to try it out yourself.

In develop, start with the black slider to increase apparent saturation and contrast.

You can open up shadows using the fill light slider, and bring down any highlights using "recovery" (always assuming you have any information there in the first place.....).

Finally adjust exposure.

That's what I do with every image once they are downloaded. Sounds like a lot of work but it's fun!

I love LR and theres so much info as to how to use it on the web, as has been suggeseted just google yr Q

Do a search on YouTube for Lightroom and you'll find a lot of video clips on various topics.

Have a go with this i used it when i first started with Lightroom, give a great introduction to the workflow, the next episode in the series is part 2 btw.
