Anyone here own a new shape swift sport non-hybrid?

I just got one used (2019) and the engine makes a tapping sound when idling.
I'm wondering if this is normal as the 1.4 boosterjet model is not common around here and I have no owners to ask.
 
MIGHT be the injectors. All 3 of my Triumph bikes tick at idle and I've been assured that it's the injectors. Listening to other bikes, I'm not the only sufferer!

I stuck my head under the bonnet but tracing where the noise is coming from is tricky.
I guess it could be injectors as it uses a direct injection system.
 
I have a Vitara with the 1.4 boosterjet engine - there's a slight tap on tickover that's always there - not loud enough to worry me - it's on 20k with a full dealer service history - I think it's fairly normal for this engine.
 
Use a long handled screwdriver as a probe. Place the tip where you want to test for tapping and listen to the handle.

Yes, but that was back in the 1960s, when they also said that Japanese motorcycles were being made for a bowl of rice a day.

p.s. don't mention anything made in the same era or later by Austin Morris subsequently British Leyland. ;)

I'm led to think it's the same engine as the Vitara and I can only really here the tapping/ticking when the engine is idling.
I'd take it to a dealership but it costs £89 just for a looksee.

Aren't you still under warranty? But I don't think it's anything to worry about.

It's still under warranty but I think Suzuki main dealers still require a fee for investigative work.
I guess I'll leave it for a while and keep an ear out for signs of degradation.

If you're worried - mention it at the next service. (I wouldn't be worried though)

I've fallen foul of internet scare mongers with tales of stuck hydraulic lifters and bent valves.
Having thought about it my best option is to swing by my local dealers and see what they think. (I can hear my wallet screaming as I type)

Did you buy it from the dealers? If so then you could try and find the salesman instead and ask him, chances are he might just grab a mechanic to come out and quickly listen.

It would also be insurance fraud.

Same here, I got a 1.2 petrol one for my wife (the previous generation) and other than a new battery nothing breaks. It's a bit lacking in luxury inside but functional enough, nippy for a 1.2 thanks to it being lighter than a shopping trolley and the handling is go-kart fun! I will get the 1.6 Sport once this one needs replacing - although I think I'm in for a long wait.

I had 3 of the previous gen swift sports.
Fun to drive and quite economical.
 
I took the car to my local suzuki main dealer and the were good enough to have a looksee FOC.
There mechanic stuck his head under the bonnet and said, "Sounds about normal"
He then wrapped up the meeting with, "Keep an eye (ear) on it, if it gets worse, bring it back."

I guess that's about all he could say really.

I finished the internet twice and could not find info/recordings of the engine at idle.
