New Photographer

Hello!
I am a keen phone photographer but am wanting to make it more of a hobby and get a camera.
I don’t have a massive budget but have been a bit overwhelmed with all the different varieties.

Can anyone suggest a good starter camera and also a not too expensive laptop/programme to use with it as I only have an iPad at the moment.

What is your budget (massive is very different depending on where you're standing)
What sort of things do you like to photograph?
Do you feel your phone limits you - if so, in what way?
Are you restricting yourself to new cameras, or is second hand an option? (not thinking of risking eBay but there are many 2nd hand reputable dealers out there)

Answering these questions will give us a better idea of where to perhaps steer you.

We, as you might imagine, see many new members asking the same type of questions......

So, you do need to put more flesh on the bones such :-

1. What do you like to photograph and/or wish start to photograph?
   NB this in some ways will "inform" the range of replies that you may see!
   
   
2. Have seen any particular type of camera that caught your eye and why 'that one'?
   
   
3. You mention budget but don't say how much your maximum might be?
   Also, your separate budget for the laptop & software to edit the photographs?
