Yes
A family member has just received an email purporting to be from Paypal advising them that a payment they'd just sent had been declined and to log into their account (via the email :nono:) and amend their bank account details.

Now I know this is pretty standard stuff, however, this email was addressed correctly for the account holder "Dear Mr....." instead of the usual "Dear Paypal member" and the sending email address ended .info.paypal.co.uk which looks fine, but a genuine Paypal email will be from of paypal.co.uk , a subtle enough difference to catch the unwary out, so be careful folks

Im usually pretty good at spotting these myself but still, thanks for the heads ups

Simple rule is never click anything money related in an email. use you own bookmark/favourite to get to the site.

Exactly, but it would be very easy to be taken in by this one, it even has the

"
How do I know this is not a Spoof email? Spoof or ‘phishing’ emails tend to have generic greetings such as "Dear PayPal member". Emails from PayPal will always address you by your first and last name."

link at the bottom...

Cheers for the heads up Graham.

Follows the old addage - never follow a link in any email to update bank/paypal/payment details. Always go to the website independently to check.

I'm getting paypal spoofs in French , 3 or 4 in the last week.

I had just sent payment for my gimbal head and was awaiting a reply from the seller. Next day i got one of thse mails and i very very nearly followed it up. I dont know if it was just coincidence or not but why would i get this at 6am when i just made payment 8hrs before.

Are you sure this isnt a valid paypal email? info.paypal.co.uk is still a domain under paypal.co.uk control.

If it was info-paypal or infopaypal or whatever then yes I would be concerned, but if it is a scam with info.paypal.co.uk then paypal have been subverted.

Well, I checked their account and there is no indication of a problem with any transactions and Paypal don't normally ask you to click on a link in an email to change your bank account details....

Sorry, you're right.

Just realised - sending address - I took it as web address. Yes, Sending address means nothing .

Having had my email hacked and a few months later my bank account cleaned out,im very wary, thanks for warning:thankyou:These bogas sites are very convincing.Never did track how my card details were cloned, and if connected with email hack[coming through open and tried to sort with apple many times] and never will find out,but to these scum bags its a full time job and clever with it.In short never respond to anything that asks for details of bank, card ect.Which i didnt and still got done.Widespread easy money, latest is not to go for big hit, just lots of small amounts from many accounts so goes unnoticed.
