Microsoft has released a new version of outlook for Mac with the rest of the office suite arriving some time next year, available to 365 subscribers only as far as I can tell.

I have it installed on both desktop and laptop and it runs as sweet as a nut on both. The UI is now fairly close to the Win 2013 flavour but they are still using ribbon icons that look like they're circa 2001.

The setup was as easy as can be (fully automated) and generated no errors and it seems to be working as advertised so far.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Yes, still can't stand it :) I much prefer Mail/Calendar/Contacts/Notes/Reminders as applications...

In fairness I've no particular problem with MS products, like many I've used then since day dot and the office is MS through and through, on my Mac kit I only use outlook for my work account, but I do prefer word and excel over pages and numbers, for all my personal stuff I use the Apple apps .

TBH I've always preferred the microsoft versions of the applications to those from Apple, though the ribbon system for hiding tools has reduced my love significantly.

I only used MS Office at work (well apart from Lotus 1-2-3, Freelance and Wordstar a lifetime ago), so when I had the chance to snag Office 2013 for Mac for home use I jumped all over it. Works fine for me..

Finally got rid of everything microsoft on my Macs a couple of years ago, they were the only programmes that I had problems with.
Once I got used to using all Apples office programmes, I use them all the time. I think MS Office was just too clever for me ( or just too complicated) even though I did extensive courses at work learning how to use them.

I've been using it as my main Email program, and like it, much better than Apple's Mail, I'd rather use Outlooks Calendar than Apple's but because Outlook Calendar won't sync across my other Mac/IOS devices, I'm stuck with Apple Calendar.
