New Old Film Challenge #267: Fungi and moss

It's beginning to be that time of year when we see fungi, moss etc around the place. Probably too early for this year, but let's see what you've got from previous year!

As usual the following rules apply:
1) Must be taken by you
2) Must have been taken on film, notwithstanding which, digital post processing is allowed
3) Must have been taken and developed prior to the start date of this challenge, but can be scanned after the challenge date.

Discussion in the Discussion thread (link below) rather than this Entries thread, please.

Please include details of the camera, lens, film etc and anything else of relevance, if you can possibly the details remember that far back. Perhaps you could also explain you reasons for the choice of image.

Entries close some time after 23:59 on Monday EDIT 29th September 2025, following which a voting page will be opened with a three day voting window.

Redscaled moss...

Pentax LX, Pentax K 55mm f/1.8, home redscaled KodaColor 200 at EI 50. I absolutely love this lens, and I wanted to see how it would do close up and wide open.

Closed, will get a poll up shortly..

Well done Kalsarikännit, you are the winner, with a really beautiful image! And welcome to Film & Conventional. You're plunged in at the deep end here, as your grand prize is... thinking up and setting our next challenge! This may sound a bit daunting, but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it, and there'll be lots of help and support if you need it..

Most people create a new thread and then copy and edit the previous first post (ie post #1 in this thread) with their new title, any words of encouragement, etc, and updating the challenge number from #267 to #268. The rest you can just carry forward. That part's easy enough. You'd also need to put the challenge number and new theme in the thread title.

Then when you publish that post, put a link to it in the announcement in the "New Old Film Challenge discussion" thread, which you'll find in the stickies at the top of this forum (https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/new-old-film-challenge-discussion-thread.698995/). Somewhere else in those stickies is a thread which attempts to list all the previous challenges in this series (somewhere in https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/the-film-conventional-challenge-index-thread.685893/), but it's incomplete, and it might be worth just thinking something up. Repeat would not be a problem.

As the first post here implies, we tend to leave these challenges open for around 7 days, and then put up a poll for 3 days. We can talk about the poll later. You can set the poll so it automatically closes after 3 days, but for your challenge thread it'll be up to you to close it once around 7 days are up (just adda post saying it's closed for entries). I confess I've often left it going a little longer, and no-one seems to mind; by and large we're a tolerant lot here!

(BTW there's no truth in the rumour that I deliberately chose a horrible photo to avoid setting up another challenge. No truth at all. ;) )

I'm happy to answer any questions via PM (known as Conversations), or you could ask questions in the Discussion thread mentioned above.

Congratulations again.

Kalsarikännit hasn't been seen on TP since 7:56 last Friday, about half an hour before I put that post up. I have sent a PM, but no response there either. I propose that we wait until Saturday to see if they turn up. If not, I would ask @Kevin Allan as the next highest vote-winner if he would take on the next challenge.

:agree:

I should say to @Kalsarikännit that there is no obligation to set the new challenge;I appreciate it can seem a bit daunting. I'd hate if winning this challenge has put you off TP altogether.

With no further information, @Kevin Allan would you mind setting the next NOFC Challenge please? Thanks
