Just bought the new Nikon 3100 dslr , wondered if anyone else has one on
here and what their thoughts are , charged mine this morning so just going to
have a play around with it (familiarise) .
Anyone know what kit is available I,m looking for a remote shutter release to start (i.r. preffered) then a new lens (after xmas) is there a camera armour kit for it ?

I've had mine for about 3 weeks after upgrading from a D60. Utterly loving it. The noise when you take a shot is so smooth and sexy. Apart from that the metering, low light performance, dynamic range and resolution make the upgrade definately worthwhile.

The only negatives I have found are - using live view or shooting video flattens the battery very fast - and the LCD screen is terrible, if anything it seems worse than the D60. I'm really not sure about the usefulness of HD at 1080p @ 24 fps. I'd much rather have 720i @ 50 fps

I don't think its compatable with the standard Nikon ir remote, but do you really need one when you've got the self timer so easily accessible?

I found in past use (on other cameras) that its a lot easier with a remote when the camera is setup on tripod particuarly in low light situations .
Is there a bulb setting on the 3100 ? I have,nt looked yet .
