New member with new cam

Hi guys,

I was refered to this forum by a mate on alfa forum.

I have just orderd my self a Nikon D40X which i should have within the next 7 days.

Im new to the digi camera world and this is my first ever slr camera.

I hope i made the right decision, it was so close between the Canon 400D, read many different reviews and couldnt make my mind up, finally went in to local store and had a play with them both as soon as i grabbed the Canon it just felt plasticy but the Nikon that felt sweet.

So once again hi to all and i hope to lear from this forum, and any advise would be appreciated.

I have got the camera kit with the standard lens kit, 2gb mem card, tripod, extra battery case and some other bits.

Now i need to learn how to use it, from what a lot of people have said the menus on all slr cameras are tricky at first.

Welcome Nad

You chose Nikon over Canon? Are you nuts?!?! ok just kidding.. I'm sure you made the right choice.. and this forum is going to be great to help you learn how to use it.

The best bit of advice I can give for now is to read the manual, then read it again. You'll be surprised how easy your camera will be once you've worked your way around. Also don't forget the search feature on this forum.. as there is a wealth of info that will help you out.

Great Camera - I've got one and really pleased with it. I've just bought the Nikon AF-S DX VR 55-200mm lens to supplement my kit lens. Brilliant! Enjoy your photography and welcome.:thumbs:
