New MacBook Time - Start again perhaps ?

Think I am getting closer to replacing my very trusty 12 year old MacBook Pro

Looking like I am going to go for an air as I think the upgrade from what I have will be huge even with a low (ish) spec one

However, my question is around how do I go about moving my Lightroom/Photoshop package and pictures etc to the new machine or do I even bother

If I am honest I am not totally precious about any pictures that I still have that are unedited ( I am in the process of culling them now) and all the images I wish to save are probably exported and saved to the hard drive or could be

I am doing another back up on it at the moment and I am in a position to keep the old machine and still have access to it for as long as I want (or till it fails)

Just wondering whether I should simply start another monthly subscription (I am currently paying for the one I have myself but really work should be paying and I just haven’t got round to changing the card details as this new air will also be work orientated too) I co-own the business so that’s no issue.

Thoughts on starting afresh ?

You can copy over the native files, and the Lightroom catalog.

I did it years ago and it worked pretty well, although some Lightroom developers settings were lost between the standalone version and the newer CC Classic version

Lightroom sub allows use/install on up to 5 machines IIRC.

If you want to move across, when you setup the new machine choose restore from Time Machine backup (assuming you have one of the old machine and new machine has a drive at least the same size).

The Lightroom + Photoshop Creative Cloud Photography plan licence (which appears to be what the OP has) permits installation on two computers, providing you're not using it on both at the same time.
