New Lightroom import dialog - no move option, only copy / add??

Theres been a lot of grumbling about it on the Adobe forum and lots of other places, Adobe hasn't heard the phrase "if it an't broke don't fix it". It seems the official reason was to simply the program for new users.

Absolutely, just simply add via Lightroom and then delete. I don't quite understand the problem, move can be risky.
 
never really understood the reason for elaborate import options as ive always preferred to copy my raws to a monthly folder hierarchy before i even start importing to lr so all i need is the ability to select a folder and import from there

Well I've been happily using move for years - I import to local disk from CF card (a copy action) using Canon DPP then I use Lightroom to import to the job folders / by using move I don't have to go back and clear the temporary source folders. And I would still have the CF card to revert to if something went wrong in the import. Time is money and if I'm importing 10-20 jobs per week it all adds up.
 
It doesn't suit everybodies workflow, but it seems a bit pointless to remove a feature.
