As I'm getting back into photography my 5 year old Dell laptop will need replacing.
I'm an Intel fan but I won't rule out an AMD CPU.
I'm looking for 32gb ram, a minimum of 1 TB storage, Nvidia graphics and QLED display.
I've been looking at the Dell G6 which looks like it's the replacement for my G5.
My budget is around £1200 but I can go a bit higher.
I remember back in the day there was some hardware and software available for screen calibration but a couple of friends have told me they are better calibrated in the factory these days, is this correct?

Tia.

If budget is tight, then look out for a year old gaming laptop. There are often many of them on the market at 50% (or less) than the new price as owners swap out for the latest and greatest processors and graphics card with a 5-10% improvement over the previous model.

My previous laptop was and AMD Ryzen (8-core) and the performance was great and battery life was decent as well compared to the Intel models at the time. I upgraded the memory to 32Gb from the standard 16 as it allowed LR and PS to run at the same time more efficiently.

I still ran the screen calibration on mine and it made a small difference, though you could only really tell by clicking on the before/after views on the software.

I recently sold mine and bought a Macbook, predominantly to allow airdropping files to another macbook. Initial impressions are that the screen is a bit better, but battery life is much better. Performance in Lightroom is also significantly better as well when importing images and building previews.
