Had a call earlier today to say that my insurance company (Eagle Star) have passed on the details of all my stolen items to another company who's job it is to find me identical replacements. Apparently, they don't give you the cash equivalent and let you do it.....which means I can't go and play with Kerso :(

Anyway, I don't care....it means I'll soon have a camera again!! :woot:

Been using my old Cybershot DSC-V1 which I used to love.........but not anymore......shutter lag like you wouldn't believe!!;) Hope I don't have to wait too long!

Well it is too bad you can't shop around for a better bargain but at least they didn't give you a problem on the pay out. Bet you can't wait to take some pics.

Shame they won't just give you the cash but I guess, at worst, you'll have your old kit but brand new :) . I bet you can't wait for it all to arrive and to get out there and take some photos!

if you wanted to buy specifically from kerso it may be worth telling the insurance company, if you tell them that you always deal with him for your photographic gear they may well oblige, i had a situation a few years ago when i had an expensive mountain bike stolen, i told the insurance company i dealt with one specific shop for my cycling gear and they sent the cheque to the shop, if you do this and it works, kerso may even give you some kind of discount or throw in a couple of extras, maybe a filter or two, it may be worth a try, good luck

Hi,

I'm glad that it's been sorted out, and that you'll soon have all you need to start again.

A similar thing happened to me last september ... I was taking some photographs of the flooded river Esk near my home, and was concentrating with my 20D on a tripod. Some low life raided my bag, and made away with my EOS 1DS.

I went home and phoned my insurance company, and they rang back with an hour saying that my camera would be replaced immediately. The insurer (Norwich union) put me in touch with a specialist company who do their replacements, who told me that the only camera they could offer as a direct replacement was a new 1DS Mk II. I was over the moon, and the rep told me that a replacement would be with me next day by courier. I couldn't believe my luck.

Unfortunately, I came down to earth with a bang, when they later rang back, and told me that the maximum amount the Norwich Union would give them was £2000 per item. I agreed to accept a new IDn MkII instead. It was delivered the next day, and quite honestly, I think I now prefer it to the DS - It's much faster and handles like a dream.

Again, congratulations:D

Glad you're getting the new gear! :) It's pretty common practice these days for insurance companies to source replacement goods.

I am so very pleased for you Carole ... ;)

You must have had a real tough time over all this and be so relieved it is now coming to an end ...

Good thing is all your gear will be brandnew and ... you'll be taking real good care of it I'm sure ... :suspect:

Great news ...

:p

Aye, the insurance companies seem to be rather focused get it on betterment at the moment, so they deal with suppliers who'll give them bottom dollar prices.

Woohoo! :) Glad to hear it's finally getting sorted.
