Hello all,

New to this site and photography. I got myself a new Olympus E410 just after Christmas for a snip at PC World.

So far, loving the camera, until today that is!!!!!!!

Today, changing the lens (I have two, a 17.5-45mm and a 45-150mm) a clip (x2) fell out of the body followed by a viewfinder lens (the one that has the site markings on).......Oh no, very small and fiddly. The bad part is whilst I tried to put them back I got a smudge on another lens/mirror behind the fallen out lens (some kind of prysm lens I think). Anyway, the plot thickens, I then tried to clean the lens, but unfortunately have made it 10 times worse, it even has a scratch on it where I tried to get the clips back in......:bang:

I'm pretty sure it's just the viewfinder lens, but what do you think my chances are of getting this fixed under warranty???? I only ask, as it wasn;t my fault the lens and bracket came out, which led me to try and replace it whilst damaging another lens!!!

Anyway, thanks in advance, and sorry for starting out on this forum with a negative!

Cheers :olympus: (or at least I will if they can get it repaired!)

ps The camera still takes perfect pics, it's just when I look through the viewfinder when it looks awful!!!!!!!!

Trying to add pic below, took this yesterday in Uppermill:

Hi James, and welcome to the tp forum, that's a great photo , no wonder you're pleased, I'd better point out though that when posting an image up, the dimension of the longest side should not exceed 800 pixels, otherwise you'll attract the attention of the pixel police.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing some more of your images soon.
Hope you enjoy the forum, there's certainly loads of expertise & knowledge hear.
Regards Kevin

Hi Jimbojet,

Well I'd argue that it shouldn't have fallen out in the first place, which of course is perfectly true, it shouldn't have.

OK, you've made it worse, but that doesn't detract from the first point! I'd certainly demand (nicely but firmly) a warranty repair on this one. The parts probably won't cost Olympus much in reality anyway, and I can't see why you should have to stand the cost of sloppy assembly in production.

Nice photo too.

cheers
Bill

EDIT: Sorry jimbojet... welcome from me to.
