New flash for Canon

Should be fine, as they are Jersey based, I have ordered from them a few times.

Have you looked at the Jessops own brand flash, and also at the yongnuo?

Thanks Lawrie for your prompt reply. I have looked a Jessops own brand flashes, but they only tilt in one direction. I haven't looked at the yongnuo ones, but I will.

The Nissin Di622 looks perfect for my first flash. My real concern was warranty issues. Knowing my luck it would go belly-up 7 days before the end of the warranty period. I found other websites selling it at a similar price, but I believe they only offer their own warranty and not manufacturers because the item is imported.

One thing to consider is that should you upgrade the body to say a 7D, you won't be able to make use of the wireless ETTL feature. It may not be something you consider at the moment, but since getting the 7D I couldn't think of going without it.

7 day shop has been around for a few years now so chances of going under well not exactly likely to at the mo, they are over here in Guernsey not Jersey and I have bought off them many times, course i can go pick up lol.

Jessops 360AFD is a goos buy too well worth looking at

A Bargain

I want to get a flash for my 450D and have found the one in the link below which will fit the bill. My question really. Is the company reliable regarding warranty etc and is it likely to be a grey import?

7day used to sell a lot of grey import stuff, whether they do or not any more I couldn't say, however if you're worried about potential warranty issues your best bet would be to contact them directly and ask....

To be honest, I wouldn't worry about it, the only thing I would suggest is that if you can stretch your budget a wee bit further a secondhand Canon 430EX or EXII might be a better buy.

If I was buying it myself I would probably go for a used Canon, but my wife is getting it as a Christmas gift. So I was hoping to find the best deal and give her the link. I know it wont be a surprise on the day, but there will be other things to open.

In that case then the Nissin is probably the best option, although the Jessops 360 AFD mentioned above is pretty decent too for the money.

Update.

Had a word with Santa last night and she said I was getting the Canon 430ex 11, very happy about that.

Thanks to everyone who replied.
