Hi, my first technical post so please be gentle :)
I have just upgraded to a D7000 after losing my D70 (don't ask how)
anyway so far I have a few problems!
after taking a few shots I will review them and I sometimes get 'cannot view file' if I transfer them to a PC it may show the file but the preview will be black and if I try and open it the error 'unsupported file format' throws up.
the pictures that I can view of open up in ViewNX2 all ok. I am saving them in RAW/JpegF
I think it may be my SD card? its a Kingston 32mb SDHC 6
or should I just send the D7k back and ask for a replacement?

any info gratefully received

Is your card 32mb (megabytes) or 32gb (gigabytes). If its the former then 32mb is woefully small in capacity for a modern DSLR; if its the latter it may be too big to be supported by the camera, although i doubt that in reality.

The 'cvf' message may be the card being too slow, preventing the camera from accessing the file properly. The D7K probably knocks out 16-18mb .NEF files and fairly large JPEGs, which is a fair bit of data to access in an instant for a slow card.

In terms of your PC, to be on the safe side do an upgrade of NX2 via the Nikon website so it can support the D7000. The software might not have updated itself automatically....

What Pat said:) just had similar problem, never had an issue with my old D80 or D200 but recently upgraded to D300S and couldnt open any of my RAW files, was a simple upgade of the Camera RAW for Photoshop and an upgrade of Capture NX and we were good to go again

OK Thanks guys, it is a 32gb card my bad there :)
I have just purchased an 8gb Sandisk ultrpro and the difference is quite amazing tbh.
the read/write led only flashes now as before it would stay on for at least 1.5 seconds.
I will give it a good run and post the results.

Excellent. Thought it might be card write speed. Have had this myself - found an ancient Jessops 512mb card and it took an age between shots. Gave it to my dad in the end for his ancient Camedia thing....
