Hi all,
mate of mine is living in Holland, he is looking for a starter DSLR.
He has been offered a New in box Nikon D40 & kit lens for €300.

This guy is a photography instructor, who when my mate said he was thinking about a D3100 from amazon said, or you could have a D40 new in box from me.

Now it doesnt seem straight to me, New in box D40, how long ago were they discontinued?:cuckoo:

So thoughts from the floor- D40 & kit lens new in box worth €300?
 
Well a used D40 at MPB is £199 and a Kit lens £54 or £74 with VR, so not too far off.
 
That sounds like a good price but the D3100 is only a bit more and your getting a lot extra for the price.
That said the D40 is still an amazing camera! I think it was discontinued in 2008 but I got mine 2009 because there were so many that had been built due to it being such a popular camera. Maybe this is one of the remaining stock. Or you could be getting ripped.
 
Just get the d3100, the d40 ISO performance is god-awful
