I'm looking for a new computer.

I will be running Phocus, Lightroom 4, Photomatix Pro, and an early version of CS. I may be running 3 out of 4 of these at once. I may have up to 5 images open at once.

I use a 16 mega pixel camera, and a 39 mega pixel camera.

How far should I go with the CPU, motherboard, and RAM? (Before I get to a stage of greatly diminishing returns.)

I plan to get multiple SSDs, two monitors, and something like a 1.5Gb NVIDIA graphics card.

Any other thoughts?

Many thanks,

Brian.

i5 overclocked (or i7 if you want an extra 10% speed).

16G memory, Windows 7/8 64bit. Motherboard - almost any from a reputable manufacturer that has the features you want (Asus/Gigabyte/MSI).

Unless you do a lot of work that the graphics card accelerates (i.e. only some specialist stuff most don't use) the graphics card is pretty much irrelevant TBH....

I have an i5 (not overclocked), 8Gb RAM, 460GTX video card (you don't need to spend too much on a video card),

I have 2 x 128Gb SSD drives, 2x 1Tb internal Hard drives and 2x2Tb internal hard drives. Also have a DVD Writewr.

Motherboard I went with the expensive P8Z77-V DELUXE but you could go for a lower spec one.

You should be able to build one at a good price. Get a good CPU cooler too.

Thanks for the replies, I know what to work to now.

Brian.

I meant to add with my specs the PC flies! 8Gb is plenty of RAM although I do kind of want to upgrade to 16Gb - but for no good reason lol
