New car beckons Advice

salesman " these windows have a special security feature in that they can't be cut out and removed to gain access to your property"

me "really? Is that common?"

salesman "oh, yes, many burglars remove a window to get into houses"

me "so....do many burglars remove 12ft long front windows like the one you're trying to sell me to break in?"

salesman "err.....err....these windows have a unique, err....err...what's that word??"

me "could you just hand the brochure over and I'll read it myself?"

Salesman "If i could do the window for £2000, what would you say?"

me "I'd say 'why are you three times more expensive than XXX company?"

Salesman "our windows have a unique......how about £1500? £1400?£1300?£1200?£800?"

me " No thanks,can you show me any doors?"

salesman "no..."

me "allow me to show you one...."

This actually took place over an hour of soul-destroying (for him) sales pitch

it was the same with Kerby dust buster ... the wife took a call "madam you have WON" Wife oh good, "yes you can have all your carpets cleaned"


i heaved a big sigh and went along with her...moved all the furniture out of the front room (this was 15 years ago ) the guy came round, he was only going to clean a spot on the carpet, , any way 3 hours later + and a price reduction from £2000 to £!1200, 1 cleanish carpet, he left washed out, he gave us some glass drinks cups with Kirby clean on them, we gave him 2 tomato plants.

the point was to change the car for a bigger one to cart my chair round and the pram, and us four with luggage so i was spending in excess of 18K..... well the wife informed me last night that she likes the our merc and would like to keep it, and we realized that to get all that in a car it would have to be big, so we decided on one each,we have a Static caravan that i can use all year now so two cars make it easier, i can leave on the thursday and she can bring the kids on the friday, so off roar round two.... there was one post here that got me thinking Range Rover, well lets see, the price will come down as it will be just for me and not the rotting kids and there junk so a Range Rover, petrol or diesel and it must have the BMW engine and be HSE or Vogue and be cream leather like my merc, this will be the genral load lugger, i can nor drive far as i proved the other day, was stupid and did 100 miles spent the the evening and night + morning in bed recovering,
