New Canon Cashback/Trade In

Lol and it doesnt even have to be a canon!
What a good idea!

Errrr, so say you want to upgrade from something like a 30d to a 50d, you send the camera to canon, and get £81 (Inc the £6 contribution to postage?) cashback?

IMO, that's a rubbish deal. Most cameras will still sell second hand for more than the £75 that they're offering.

5. Along with the completed form, original receipt for their new EOS 50D or 500D, post your old SLR or DSLR (any make or model) into a padded jiffy bag to Canon EOS Trade In Promotion,

Which means you can send in any old camera! Doesnt even need to be working!! Im not sure the 'most cameras are worth more' is true!

Wish they were doing a cash back on lenses :(

"Offer only on in-store purchases made between 1 July and 31 August 2009."

We all know how much high street retailers charge. So EOS 500N is roughly £10 inc pp on ebay, so this will probably equal online prices after rebate.

Edit: is canon short of camera spares?!

Have just checked the websites of two of the participating dealers who are local to me (Bennetts and Youngs) and neither appear to be selling any Canon DSLR's.

Brilliant strategy - have a great (?) offer which nobody can use.

OK, someone will no doubt find some listed somewhere.

I have been looking at this and I will be interested to see if my plan works. I have bought an old SLR of ebay for the princely sum of 50p (plus £5 packaging). I am hoping to go to jacobs and get the camera and the bit of paper signed so that i can send it off. the offer requires you to get the form signed by the chap who did the demo.

I will let you know how I get on. I am new here btw

Hi and welcome

Will be interesting to see how you get on, don't forget to see how much the camera is elsewhere before you go in and buy it from Jacobs, as I think Jacobs will price match to other places - not sure about the internet though, might be worth a quick call before
