New buzz phrase 'Covid recovery'

Maybe that's why Saga House/Contents Insurance (over 50's) have just quoted me £148.00 renewal (was £84.00) last year. I have been with them 6 years and never made a claim ! These across the board 'mega' price increases are ( imo) as much a product of greed as covid circumstances. When 'tackled' on the phone Saga reduced the price by £20.00 but they have still lost this customer.

We moved ours from Saga recently too....

Used to insure a bike through Saga but after 2 years, they decided that that make and model didn't exist...

Maybe so. Mine went up about that much even before they had the excuse so naturally I went elsewhere.

Some of the increase might be due to the new law that says they have to treat new customers the same as renewals. Instead of making it cheaper for everybody as the government probably hoped, it seems to be putting the price up for everybody as everyone apart from the government predicted.
