Found this comp which might be worth a look at.

visitBlackpool, the official tourism department for Blackpool, and Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board, have launched a photography competition titled Blackpool – take a fresh look.
Blackpool is changing – a breathtaking new seafront, world class events, and spectacular lighting shows, while still being home to some of the UK’s best loved attractions – the Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Tower & Circus, Sandcastle Waterpark and the world famous Illuminations, meaning there are plenty of fantastic opportunities to take a competition winning snap.
The competition, sponsored by Jessops and Links Signs & Graphics Limited, is open to amateur photographers of all ages and capabilities, with a special ‘Youth Zone’ category to accommodate the under 16s.
There are four categories in the competition which are free to enter and participants can enter as many categories as they want. Only under-16s may enter the Youth Zone category. The categories are as follows;
1. The Changing Face of Blackpool - a picture that sums up the transformation of the resort
2. A Fresh Look at the Hidden Gems – a new picture of an old favourite
3. What’s Going On? – a picture taken at one of the world class events taking place in the resort
4. Youth Zone – a category for the under 16s that shows their passion for the new Blackpool
Participants can enter the competition by taking that perfect snap which captures the essence of the new Blackpool and emailing it to newblackpoolphoto@skvcommunications.co.uk where it will be uploaded onto the visitBlackpool Flickr website. E-mailed entries need to include the participant’s name and address, contact details and the name of the category they are entering. Deadline for entries is Friday, July 31st, with the judges announcing the shortlist on Friday, August 14th.

Just had a look

PRIZES:
The winners from each category will receive some Jessops vouchers, while the overall winner will receive a digital camera from Jessops and an all expenses paid weekend in Blackpool. The winning picture will be used by visitBlackpool and Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board in future marketing campaigns.

 some Jesops vouchers  worth how much and the winner digital camera  what camera

we were asked to post this a little while ago, but we didnt due to this:

6) Your photograph(s) must not be digitally enhanced in any way, shape or form.

which is, frankly, daft. I emailed the guy who originally was going to post this (IE, not someone from the PR agency who *pretends* to find a competition we might be interested in...eh Katherine? ;)) and asked him to define the parameters, he basically said No enhancements, ie Brightness etc - when i pointed out that hes opening a can of worms I received no reply. taken with a digital camera there is digital changes, sharpening is required etc, but they obviously are not that bothered. Shame really, as it would be a good competition. No rights grabbing which is good

7) vB reserves the right and you accept and grant vB the right to reproduce and exhibit your photograph(s) in all media for all vB promotional purposes whatsoever. Copyright in your photograph(s) will remain with you unless we buy this copyright from you. Remuneration will be given for use. This remuneration will be in line with the vB guidelines for payment to amateur photographers (A). All photographs entered into the competition may be stored by vB on the vB online photo gallery.

shame that they have chosen silly manipulation terms, its basically open to film only with the restrictions that are in place

Hello

I write from the official Tourism Board for Chester and Cheshire - a similar body to that that's at the core of the Blackpool competition.

I also contribute to these forums from a personal membership, so I'm aware that this is a pretty decent forum from which to get thoughts and feelings from a good set of people.

We are currently trying to set up a similar competition, which "yes" we do want to use this to develop our image library, however, whilst we do want to use submitted images across our marketing material, we do also want to credit the people who've supplied them, and also, where possible, publish their thoughts in creating that image.

Currently though, we're doing this in-house, not through a PR agency. I'd welcome your thoughts, feelings, suggestions or comments. If you'd prefer not to add them to the forum, please feel free to email me

k.ellis-baxter@visitchesterandcheshire.co.uk

Cheers, Kevin

I have looked at the terms and conditions and have contacted LBTB to ask exactly what term 6 means. Yes I am in PR but am also a keen photographer and thought that this comp might appeal to people - trying to find new angles for Blackpool rather than donkeys and kiss me quick hats!

Got some feedback from the LBTB - if it is going to prevent people from entering the competiton, they are happy to take clause 6 of the t's and c's out.

1st prize - a weekend in blackpool
2nd prize - 5 days in blackpool
3rd prize - 1 week in blackpool

etc etc...

It will be won by someone taking a photo of that ghastly disco ball! What is it 20 feet across or something. Either that or a donkey with a kiss me quick hat.

Where do i sign up :)

Guys - sorry if taking an alternative membership is against the rules! The reason I did this is that occasionally, when writing from a work perspective, it can often wind people up, etc., and I didnt want my questions to do that. Sorry.

My usual login is Mathmosman, but in any case, I'll delete the VCC login.

The reason I wrote is that I would like to organise a reasonably credible competition, but the ultimate aim of it is to develop our image library. That said, there is a genuine interest in crediting people for their contributions, and at the same time, developing these into our campaigns, across many media, both online and off.

Well, I wouldn't have chosen those winners. As a tog I'd have chosen my definition of a great photo, as would everyone else. That's the eye of the beholder bit. :)

I'd consider entering if clause 6 were removed...
