New AMD motherboard will it take an older cpu?

I have an AMD Phenom X4 9650 2.3GHz Socket AM2+ Processor and im thinking of upgrading some pieces in the computer.

Can I get a new AM3+ motherboard and use the old processor in it?

No idea. If you go to the makers web site you can usually download the user manual which should tell you.

Don't think so Richard...Gigabyte have a compatible CPU list with each MB on their site and looks like you can use AM3+ processors on AM2+ MB's, but not the other way around (I went through this when my mobo died before christmas, and ended up just going for another AM2 mb, although the selection now is minimal)
