There are multiple possibilities to edit your image, straight out of the raw editor!

Super High Contrast

Flat, Midtone Heavy, details retained, White Balance warmed

Saturation and Vibrancy increased

Mono conversion

Split Tone

All of these processing techniques were done within the raw editor in photoshop, and many more are possible. You can pretty much edit to your final image within the raw editor.

Totally agree, I also think it best tomatch the raw converter with the camera, i.e. NX2 with Nikon etc

Never personally tried that Richie, I just use Photoshop with CR2's!
