I am looking to get some plan manual flashes but I just want to get something straight in my head before I press the button and order them as I am not 100% sure. I am going to be using a Canon 80D camera and my understanding is that I can use the on camera flash to triggers these speed lights if that is correct? would I be right in saying that I would have to make manual adjustments on the flash itself so if I have two I would manual change the power individually on each of the flashes? So all the on camera flashes are doing are triggering the off camera flashes? am I limited to how many flashes I can use? and would I be right in saying that I don't need to invest in wireless triggers then?

You can use your camera flash as commander, but it's limited in usage imo. You have to make sure that it has line of sight, as it works as an optical trigger. Range is also a factor. I may be wrong, but i'm sure you have to manually change power for each flash in the system (I'm a nikon user, so not sure on canon).
Wireless trigger systems are much more reliable. I have invested in the godox system and it just works, no problems. Honestly it is worth investing a bit more in a system like godox. I bought two godox tt685n's and a xt1n trigger and the system is great and cost £185 for that little lot. The flashes don't need receivers as they are built in to the flash units.
The triggers are great as they work on a lot of godox other lighting solutions. btw the trigger is about £37 on it's own.

Thanks for letting us know, I went for something else in the end that suited my needs a bit more.
