Here I am struggling to find inspiration, often wandering around for hours with a camera in hand and not taking a single shot.

A whole host of excuses which i guess many of us have used at some point...wrong light, wrong camera/lens set up, wrrong film, not worthy of wasting a frame etc etc

My sweetheart comes to realise that a project of some description is needed to "kick my butt" into getting use out of all this kit that i have and re ignite my interest so she comes up with this:

Kit:

Two Nikon camera bodies, one loaded b&w, the other colour.

One prime lens

Film

Spare batteries.

Lens cloth.

Objective:

Pre-planned walk (approx 8km) around town.

Stop every 100 meters and shoot something as creatively as possible.

Walk another 100 meters and do same

Continue this for the full distance.

She has this planned for me to do tomorrow......HELP!

So do I back out and pray it rains :D, tell her it's a nutty idea and all my fellow TPers agree that she dun't know what she's talking about :D or do I go for it and waste film on what will possibly end up little more than 80 snapshots?

Perhaps best to simply trade her in for an updated model or better still some more kit?!!! :D:D

That's a good idea , could be interesting . But maybe she suggested 100m because she has located all her favourite shops she wants to visit in the 8k route . First stop , shoe store 2nd stop accessories store 3rd stop clothing etc...... Have fun! Could be a long day!

Blimey you have her worked out better than I !! :D

Maybe you've nailed her plans ...if i don't start getting something out of this gear then she'll have me sell it to fund her shoes, accessories etc ......

Actually its not as mad as you think. I had a similar problem a while back and decided to walk around my town and take 20 photos of things I hadn't seen before. It made me look at things closer and differently, tbh I didn't get any decent shots but it helped me to get my mojo back.

I best hide this bit Andy....she'll start to believe that's she's clever :D

If it helps mine then that will be good although I would hope to have at least a couple of "good" results out of 80!!

I think she is about right and good on her!! Last week we visited a motor museum, absolute yawnsville for me, but it was something he really wanted to do, so similarly, to keep me interested, I set myself a challenge to be creative with a 50mm and a body. Not easy in a museum full of stuff that really doesn't interest you and many of the images will be marmite to many, BUT, it got me snapping away for fun while he enjoyed the exhibits. Principal is the same, sometimes you just have to make yourself do it to remember how much you actually enjoy it.

Know how you feel..been there done it, been there seen it, and so on, but try panos....as you can use a 50mm lens ( avoids all the things in the distance being tiny)...but hate to say it "the digital guys have an advantage here" oops I said it :( , as they sometimes take 40 shots for one scene.
But I have some nice shots with just three frames and probably posted them here in the past.

Do you mean shoot say 3 frames and "stitch" them afterwards?

I recall many moons ago, my old man used to shoot snapshots (on film) at motorcycle events he attended and would do 360° panos by taking 6 or 7 frames then lay the individual positives side by side to get the desired result.

When its not happnin outside...

I shoot inside

Still life, small product adverts, a photographic study of anything, etc

its hard as nails compared with outside, can knacker a day up in no time..

Indeed Photoshop will do it automatically. As the human eye is equivalent to a 40-50mm lens, this shot is more realist as the eye would see the same panning around:-

50mm lens, but unless you take more shots you get a skinny picture.
BTW I'd like to know what caused the round bump in the shot
