Right, having moved from Windows and a self built computer to an iMac I have only come across one little snag, that of storage. The internal hdd is not large enough to hold all I want it to and therefore I am keeping stuff on my timemachine, using it as a server. Its not really suited for that.
So, what I want to do is attach a fast external drive to my iMac large enough to hold all of my music, RAW photos etc. I would revert the timemachine purely to backups (along with another smaller USB2 drive attached for really critial things). So, what do people suggest? FW800? Should I go thunderbolt?
I am also planning in the long run to have a NAS but that can wait (I need tsomething to play nicely with my sonos (which the timemachine does at present) and my attached consoles (which the timemachine cannot do).
So short term and long term plan? Should be good value and also discrete- the wife goes a bit bonkers with stuff spread all over the shop!
