Need some inspiration for a competition...

Hi all,

My college at university is running its annual competition, and given its rather exclusive (only undergrads can enter), and there are probably only 20 or so serious photographers in college, I hope I stand a chance of scooping the prize money!

The themes are essentially open black & white - any subject, colour - any subject, colour or black and white - college life. I think to preclude wild entries, submissions need to be at least 18x12.

So, bearing in mind, I'm stuck with quite a heavy workload in my final year and can't nip off someone especially scenic to take something, I would like any ideas you have (I can submit two in each category).

NB: For those who know the local area, I'm in Cambridge.

I was thinking of submitting this as one of the black & white's - I took it last year...

What do you think? Too generic?

if time is a problem then maybe macro is the way to go.

things that are invovled in your daily college life but viewed in macro maybe change the colour scheme to give them a twist

even if you dont like the idea maybe will help get your grey matter working.....

Hi

There is a guy on Flickr called Sir Cam, you may well have already heard of him as he takes so may shots around Cambridge uni, that I believe he is a bit of a celebrity. I'm sure you will find some inspiration and location ideas by looking through his stream alone .

Other than that, I'm usless at giving ideas Sorry.

I don't really know to be honest. I know of a couple of people who have DSLRs, but I kind of get the impression not that many people enter at all. Given I have the kit to produce something decent, I just figured that having a serious go at winning might start paying for another lens!

Anyhow, it closes in April, so perhaps I will take some shots and post them here over the next few weeks and get some critique. Should I win, I will send a donation to TP.
