Hi everyone,

I am using Lightroom and I need a simple way to export a png or convert the image to a png. I was hoping there was a add on of sort that I could do this with. I need it to be simple because I am not very good with computers. Can you please recommend something.

Thank you for your help.

Someone might come along and correct me, but as far as I know, there is no way to do this without involving outside software. One way you could do this is to 'edit in photoshop' or whatever your editing software is that you connect to your LR from a right click, which imports a tiff version into PS. Then you could create an action to save as from PS as a .png. That's what I would do anyway...

You are correct there is no way to do it in lightroom that is why I am looking for something to help me with it. I was hoping that there was a plug in (not sure how they work) that would be easy to install and easy to use along side lightroom. Maybe an app, I really don't know how it works so I am kind of guessing..
Thanks for the reply.

Just use Paint. All PCs have paint...

Export from Lightroom as a JPEG, load into paint, then save out as a PNG.

Also.. do you have Photoshop? If so, let me know, and I'll give you a step by step on how to create a droplet. WIth a droplet, you literally drag an image onto it to run an action, so an action to load an image, and save it as a PNG will be run simply by dragging an image onto it. All you'd have to do is drag your JPEG onto the droplet icon and the rest is automatic.

There was a program called Graphic Workshop that would batch convert formats, I think it's still going, otherwise Irfanview might do the conversion (I don't use it), I don't think theres a plug-in for LR that'll do it, certainly can't think of one. I'm pretty sure you'll have to convert after exporting.

I do my converting in IrfanView It will all resize and batch convert. And will view almost anything.
It is freeware, and safe.

There is (or was) the magic export third party LR plugin allows you to do this directly from LR export

Irfanview was my first thought too. Small, fast and free.

I wanted to ask if it is normal for an upload of a png file to facebook to take 5 minutes. I exported the png image to a file and then uploaded it to facebook. I did 3 of them and they all took around 5 minutes to upload. That seemed like a long time is why I am asking.

A PNG will be slower than a jpeg, I just saved a 2mb jpeg and it was 6.7mb as a PNG, so over 3 times as big, I don't know about facebook I don't use it.

I'm curious as to why you need PNG for facebook, unless you want a transparent background but anyway what size was the file? You probably need to reduce the image size on exporting.
