Shayne I use Lightroom 90% of the time then Photoshop Elements 10 most of the rest of the time & whilst I have an older version of the full Photoshop CS2 I find it's way too much for what I need. So if I were starting from scratch I would download trials as per link & then decide.

Or Picasa which is free & I used to use a lot until I became more into PP;)

I only thing I would miss in PS6 or whatever it is now called, (PSCC?), are the advanced cloning tools; content aware and the patch tool etc., which I do not think are in PE10

Refresh my memory: what's the "patch" tool, again?

It is a cloning tool that can grab an (selected) section and replace another section with what you have grabbed - if you look it is a big clone stamp tool

You need to ask her what she need to do in photoshop that cannot be done in lr or elements?

Once people know the answer may be they can suggest the best option.

In that case you have the option of Photoshop CC which is about £9 pm month at the moment and you will get the latest version with the updates:

If she wants a cd then the there is the option of CS5, but you will have to find a reputable adobe seller to get the disks from.

Well, if she just needs the basics, then the basic version of photoshop is photoshop elements (about £60)

An alternative is pixelmator. It gets good reviews and is half the cost of elements, but mac only...

ALso take a look at Photoshop Express Editor, free!

Just read from our friends "over the pond" that the monthly subscription is going up to US$29,95 once this "initial" offer period is over
That would be £30 a month in the UK

Not sure if this is true …….. can anyone confirm??
