Need help to choose website builder.

I have basically 11 months of hosting time left with host papa and wanted to build a portfolio site with a blog. I have tried wordpress, but I am not getting along well with it and at the moment cannot afford to buy a premium theme. Can anyone recomend a decent cheap (or free) theme for wordpress or perhaps some other way to build a website. I quite like the look of the lightroom galleries. Is there a way of including these in a wordpress site?

I am not too great with these things, hence the reason I usually use photium, but thought I would try and make use of the hosting that I have already paid for.

Try the Photog theme for wordpress. I use it.
