need help protecting pictures!

welll ive been doing the "job" as a photographer lately. ive came across people who always give me credit for taking a picture, but in some cases im not so lucky. i need help on putting a "watermark" or just a cool font (any recommendations?) to put it in a image..
im using gimp (under ubuntu 10.4)

* any advices on how to put the watermark or the font with my (xxxx photography) in many pictures at the same time would be great!

I use (and have happily done so for years) fastone Photo Resizer, see here as it will add watermark/text and offers resizing etc although there are hundreds other available
