Need Advice....

Ok, let me start by saying I know this has been covered about infinity times +1 and I have looked at those threads and I apologize for asking again...the problem is I have the monkey of self doubt constantly on my shoulder (rather large one, more like an ape) and lack the confidence to just get this done without someone confirming I'm going the right way about it.

Back Story - I have struck up a 'working' relationship with my local BAFL team where I have provided some pics for their website and also for their end of season 'award show'. The manager wanted me to submit my photo's into the local press, in fact he was going to submit them himself but asked for my permission first. I initially said that I would rather I did it myself for a number of reasons, the main one being I rather not send my images in free of charge when there where 2 other togs at the game (1 whom definitely sends those pics into the papers and likely to be paid as well), I've read too much on here to know that's a no-no. So the guy was happy enough with the reasoning, but said he'll drop my name to the sports editor.

Now I have a few more home games plus a youth competition which I will be covering this season originally for fun, but since he's wanting to get as much publicity for the team then I said I would send picks into the papers. I guess I would be best phoning the sports editor (or relative person) to discuss about sending pics in or should I email him/her with a link to some samples I have already up? Also with regards to payment, how do I go about asking them for payment and what I should be on the look out for?

Also any idea's on how I would get the monkey of my shoulder? Peanuts and bananas have only provided substance for him and made him stubborn.

2 ways to approach this..

1) just send the picture ..follow guidelines ie all info embedded.. about the pic and your contact details.. thus your submitting them like any freelancer and you will expect the standard rate they pay...

2) contact the pic editor and strike up a relationship .. the downside is he could say he doesnt need your pictures as others send in.. without looking at yours.. with 1) he gets to see them and then decide if he wants to use them

with 1) you must ahve info embedded in the picture and a stament along the lines of (self billing applies, standard rates accepted, no free usage)
