(Apologies if there's an answer in another thread - I searched but couldn't find one!)

I have a MacBook Air for traveling, and a Core i7 PC at home with CS4. My goal is to be able to transfer shots from my CF card to the MacBook Air while I'm in a studio/on a shoot, then transfer them to an external HD, and access the photos from the HD on my PC when I get back home.

So I need it to be able to share files created from each other, rather than having 2 separate partitions that I can't access from the other computer.

I also need it to be a portable HD, powered by the USB cable. Size isn't massively important, as I'll get 2 for dual backups.

Any suggestions are most welcome!

The important thing with hard drives to be used between PC and Mac is to format them correctly. Any hard drive should be compatible with both, just use you Mac's disk utility to format the drive to FAT32 which is the format that can be read by both Windows and OSX.

any drive, format it to NTFS, much better than FAT32. then do this..

Thanks very much to both of you, most appreciated!

You could also get a copy of NTFS for Mac. Around £25. lets you read/write to NTFS disks from your Mac.

Neils suggestion though is cheaper
