Hi

I have been around here for a while not posted much as a am a complete and utter amature! And il be the first to say it. I have had a great interest for photography but i am using a point and shoot camera from sony to take pics. I have taken some good pics but i think i could benifit from a dslr!.

Heres the problem i am a future medical student and am sooooo poor and will be for a long time to come (about 6 years). So i have set a budget of 100 pounds for myself but i cant find one that cheap anyware not even ebay.

Any help would be fantastic! ie good websites. ones you are selling etc

mmmm I saw this thread and thought I'd take a look.....I don't think I'm too far wrong in saying that £100 is too little a sum of money......double it and you may be getting somewhere...

Although if you find some VERY kind hearted fellow you may land yourself one....

BTW I take it you mean DSLR?

I tell zee lie

D30...
d30...
10D..

now these are only canons....and without glass but its a start....

I know nothing on Nikons and my knowledge on nikons extended to searching for D100?!?!

good luck!

yes i do mean DSLR! ye i thaught as much £100 may be pushing it, real shame. Might just be able to make £150 but it's not lookin great. I will just have to put up with my adequate point and shoot!

are those you posted any good i'l have to find some reviews. thanks for looking!! it is much appreciated

Don't know any Nikon DSLR's that go for less than around £200, the old D100's are still holding their price well considering their age.

Obviously they are not in the same league as current DSLR but sure they are great cameras.....I know of people still using 10d's.....i'm not so sure on the D30.....

I know budgets and stuff is a nightmare when your a student...but....think of it this way...if you really want a camera...and you have £100 at the moment...just cut out something each week that could save you £10 then you will soon have the money....I know it seems tedious but its worth it....

If I was after something I think i'd cut out beer....only about 3/4 pints a week less and there is your £10....Its surprising how good a night out can still be if you don't drink as much....although obviously this technique only applies to a certain age group/person...

If your interest in photography is a sustained one then the hard work saving will be worth it....you can pick up Canon 350D's for c.£220 with a kit lens.....

*edit*
forgot about the 300D
300D

thanks alot mate for the advice. Hmm now what to cut out. I reckon beer is a good option. I spose you dont realise how much you spend! What is the best value/quality DSLR in your opinion (or any1 else reading?)

thanks

Stick with your p&s m8, you won't get a decent dslr for under £400 and even that is only the start, memory, lenses, batteries....

i bought a canon 300d with 18-55 sigma lens for £150 recently, pretty old kit but something to learn on, im a complete newbie. Good luck with your search, im sure something will turn up

he means he forgot to show me about it? ie he was posting cheap cameras! nothin to worry about

I think this is slightly over kill....yes it is only the start but I managed perfectly well for 2-2.5 years with my 350D, kit lens, supplied battery and a 2gb card.....all of which can be had easily for under 250 notes.....

I assumed he was looking for new superstat and given his budget of £100 even second hand is going to be difficult.

Sorry Steep - I'd have to take issue with this. As has been posted above D30's and 10D's can now be picked up for just over £100. My other half is still happily using my old D30 - in fact from time to time I use it myself as well - and it's more than capable of producing cracking shots still. Yes it's only 3mp, but I rarely print any bigger than 10 x 8 and it's more than happy to produce decent shots at that size. If you want a camera to learn on, that has all the settings to allow you to experiment, and challenge yourself, then why not?

**edit**

Just seen Steep's response above - fair comment - misunderstanding there then! :D
