Hi all, new to the site and wondering if someone could help me out a bit. I've always use digital cameras, but changing circumstances have led me to sell my beloved 30D and lenses, and eventually I settled on an old T70 film SLR to replace it - for less than £40 including a 50mm 1.8 I didn't think I could go far wrong.
And so far so good - it's all in great condition and perfect working order, but I'm struggling a little bit with the interface. The online Canon manual is hopelessly inadequate so I'm trying to learn as I go along. The problem is that 99% of the time I used to shoot in Aperture Priority, but now that's no longer an option I'm trying to get to used to manual mode on the T70. And here's the really specific question:
Manual mode, it seems, is selected by putting the camera in Tv then taking the aperture ring off A and turning it to the desired setting. Only when the camera detects there is too much light it displays a smaller aperture in the display anyway - so if it's going to override my selection, exactly what is the difference between Tv and Manual mode? Hope someone can shed some light on this - I'm really quite enthusiastic about the new camera but could use somebody helpful for guidance!
Thanks
Jonty
